palatal expander - Wonder West Orthodontics in London ONWhat is a Palatal Expander?

Attaching to the roof of the mouth (also known as the palate) the palatal expander is an orthodontic appliance that “expands” (or widens) your upper jaw by putting gentle pressure on your upper molars each time an adjustment is made. By widening the roof of the mouth, the palatal expander makes room for crowded teeth. After the expansion has occurred it is required that patients continue to wear their palatal expander for several months to solidify the expansion and prevent regression.

Below we highlight all the steps necessary for adjusting the palatal expander.

How to adjust a palate expander

Adjusting your palatal expander is a simple process that can be done in four easy steps.

Step 1: Locate the Palatal Expander

Step 1: Locate the Palatal Expander
